Forestry Grant Program?

The Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program is funded by the USDA Forest Service and administered by the NC Forest Service (NCFS).  This 1:1 match program promotes and supports projects which enhance the urban environment, educate the public and initiate urban programs in communities. Examples of eligible projects include tree ordinance creation, street tree inventory, urban forestry management plans, workshops and educational materials.  More examples can be found on the NCFS’s web site at:

Why a workshop?

The Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program is requesting all potential applicants to attend one of the offered workshop sessions, even if you have attended this workshop in the past, or successfully applied for a grant.  Workshop attendees will learn:

  • How a well-written application that meets all requirements is essential for funding consideration;
  • New contracting requirements and updates to the Request for Proposals;
  • Information on the benefits of urban forest management and future educational opportunities.

Applications received from communities or organizations that did not have a representative attend will receive lower priority in the review process in 2018.

Location: Gaston County Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC
