Connecting the Community with the Hemlock Bluffs
Join Morgan Burns with the Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve for a webinar about the history of this unique protected space within the Cary, NC municipality. Learn about the importance of the Eastern Hemlock trees, public outreach and education about urban forest protection, and the preserve's unique management between state and municipal care.
Morgan Burns is the Environmental Education Supervisor for Cary, NC, working out of the Stevens Nature Center at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. Morgan began working at Hemlock Bluffs as a part-time staff member in 2011. She is dedicated to keeping environmental education fresh and relevant, bringing interactive and modern experiences to the Stevens Nature Center while fostering both formal and organic connections with Cary’s citizens, and with the wildlife they share their community with. To this day, Morgan is grateful she didn’t return to school to become a librarian. Instead, she found her calling in what she fondly refers to as “the most intense, informal master’s study” of Hemlock Bluffs and its wildlife.
