Carolina Canopy - Taking the Lead in Tree Business



Are you a landscaper or arborist?  Do you manage a tree crew or landscape crew? This workshop will help business owners (tree care and landscape companies, specifically) have a better understanding of the leadership skills needed to properly manage crews. Presenters will highlight successful apprenticeship programs in NC, discussing what you can be doing to recruit new employees and retain current employees. The workshop will also go over updated A300 pruning standards and what those changes mean to bid proposals and job performance.

9:00—10:15 a.m. Leadership Skills for a Successful Tree Care Business

The hard skills of chainsaw operation and chipper safety is clear and objective. However, the ability to deal with peo-ple takes the soft skills of leadership. We will be learning as a group how to apply leadership skills and communication ability to get the most out of your people.

10:45 a.m.—12:00 p.m. New ANSI A300 Pruning Standards—A Review

All commercial arborists need to be aware of the new prun-ing standards, how to write recommendations, and how they affect your team and customers.
